Liveticker
Whenever there is a major event, in German news lingo a “Lage”, various newsrooms start their live coverage, usually with a "news ticker" or “live blog”. Even if the news situation is sometimes not clear and the additional value for the readers is sometimes rather doubtful, it is still the tool of choice.
The events during and after the attack on the Boston Marathon in 2015 led to such a rushed news situation in which news ticker entries were quite frequent. I analyzed the number of entries in the news tickers of various news websites over time and drew a quick chart.
